‘True Grit’ kicks off Rec Centers’ Dive-In Movies
The Recreation Centers of Sun City West offers a cool way to beat the heat this summer with its Dive-In Movie series on select Saturdays at the R.H. Johnson outdoor pool, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd., Sun City West.
The series begins with “True Grit” on July 23; then continues with “Grown Ups” on Aug. 27; and concludes with “Life as We Know It” on Sept. 17. Popcorn, ice cream, snacks and beverages will be available for a nominal price. The movies will begin at sunset, with the screen set up on the west side of the pool. Feel free to use our onsite lounges or bring a chair of your own if you prefer.
“True Grit” (2010 version) tells a story of vengeance and valor set in an unforgiving and unpredictable frontier. To avenge the murder of her father, a 14-year-old girl enlists the help of Rooster Cogburn (Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges), a one-eyed, trigger happy U.S. Marshall with an affinity for drinking; and hardened Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Academy Award Winner Matt Damon).
