Twenty-one KIVA West Duplicate Bridge Club members were honored on March 20 for achieving rank changes.

Players rise in rank as they earn master points during games sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).

These individuals were honored for achieving the ranks indicated:

  • Ruby Life Master – Patricia Brish
  • Silver Life Master – Beverlee Peterson
  • Bronze Life Master – Kathryn Murdoff
  • Life Master – Marilyn Harney, Jenny Larson, Colleen Armstead, Chris Lyon & Maurice Chesney
  • Advanced NABC Master – Mark Andrews
  • NABC Master – Lois Bartels
  • Regional Master – Karen Chitwood & Jim McNamee
  • Sectional Master – Sue Hadley, Dee Hjermstad, Vern Coates & Darleen Jaffe
  • Club Master – Sarah Baird, Brenda Biggs & Mary Flint
  • Junior Master – Sandy Cryer & Diane Christensen

Most of the 300 KIVA members began as social bridge players but transitioned to duplicate bridge for the challenge of lifelong learning in a competitive environment supervised by certified ACBL game directors.

KIVA games are open to members and guests six days per week. Games are at 12:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and at 6:15 p.m. Tuesdays at the Beardsley Recreation Center. Monday and Thursday games include a separate section for non-life masters, usually social players interested in trying duplicate bridge.
