Clay creations for sale at Sun City West’s annual ‘Pot Party’
Pottery items representing the work of more than 60 artists will be for sale at the Sun City West Clay Club’s 8th-annual “Pot Party” from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at Beardsley Recreation Center, 12755 W. Beardsley Road in Sun City West.
Visitors to the sale can expect to find a variety of one-of-a-kind, hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery items ranging from pots and platters to stylized flower figures and ceremonial masks. Buyers will find decorative pottery in all colors and designs, as well as functional oven-proof and dishwasher-safe pieces.
Betty Cool, Clay Club publicity chairperson, notes, “In each of the previous years, this event was eagerly anticipated, and we expect the same this year. All of the pieces for sale are gallery quality, but at prices a lot lower than gallery prices! Our garden flowers usually sell out within minutes.”
Raffle tickets will be available for a chance to win one of a handful of hand-crafted items, including a unique totem. A number of artisans will take custom orders for their pieces.
The Sun City West Clay Club is one of the more than 100 chartered clubs operating through the Recreation Centers of Sun City West. A percentage of the proceeds from the annual sale goes to the Rec Centers’ Village Store and to the Clay Club, helping to defray club operating costs and funding its charitable giving in the community.
