Seven running for five Board positions
- 3 p.m. March 8: Deadline to register your email
- 8 a.m. March 13: Online voting begins
- 5 p.m. March 23: Online voting ends
- March 27: Election Day. Vote in person between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Library’s Data Resource Center.
Please note: The Data Resource Center is the computer room in the Library. It will be accessible on Election Day from the North entrance. The main entrance of the Library will be closed.
On March 27, five new Directors will be elected to the Recreation Centers of Sun City West’s nine-member Governing Board. The new Directors will start their terms on July 1.
Seven candidates are running for the five open slots. Three of the positions are three-year terms, one is a two-year term, and one is a one-year term. The top three vote-getters will earn three-year terms, and the fourth-highest will get the two-year term, and the fifth will get a one-year term.
Additionally, the top vote-getter who is not already serving on the Board will immediately be seated to fill the remaining portion of former Director Ernie Prindle, who resigned in December. At the conclusion of that term on June 30, the new Director will continue on with a new three-year term beginning July 1.
(Director Tim Hurley already serves on the Board and will still be serving the conclusion of his one-year appointment when the Election results are in.)
Members may vote online this year for the first time in Sun City West’s history. Owner members have until Wednesday, March 8, to register their emails with the Rec Centers’ Membership Office. Send an email with your name, rec card and email address, to email@example.com. All owner members must have their own, unique email address.
Shortly after the March 8 deadline, members who have registered will be invited via email to vote online between March 13 and March 23. Instructions on how to vote online will be included with the invitation email.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 27, any owner member in good standing who has not yet voted may stop by the Data Resource Center to vote in person. (The Data Resource Center is the computer room in the Library. On Election Day, the Data Resource Center will be accessible from the north entrance only. The main library will be closed, and there will be no admittance through the main entrance.) Even those who did not register with an email address may vote in person (the email registration is only required of those wishing to vote early). Election Committee volunteers will be on hand to help owners cast their votes electronically in the Data Resource Center on that day. (The main Library will be closed on Election Day).
Below are short bios on the seven candidates. Members are encouraged to attend one of two Meet the Candidate forums to hear from these individuals first-hand. The sessions are 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21; or 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, both in the Lecture Hall. (Seating is limited)
