Getting published begins, 6-8 pm

March 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

GETTING PUBLISHED, with your first or next novel, 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 15 and 22   The publishing world has changed dramatically in the past decade and authors have more options than ever to get their first or next novel published. While there is no “easy” route to take, this workshop is designed to introduce writers to the major avenues available – traditional publishing and self-publishing. The workshop will span two sessions, each for two hours. The first session will outline traditional publishing and will address the key elements – writing a query letter and submitting a query, submitting a manuscript, finding an agent and/or publisher. The second session will describe self-publishing and will examine the differences between vanity publishing and real self-publishing, pitfalls to avoid, formatting a manuscript, choosing a printer/publisher. Both sessions will address marketing and creating a marketing plan. Even large traditional publishers insist their authors come prepared with a solid plan to sell their books on the world marketplace.

Instructor Ann Goldfarb, a New York native, spent most of her professional life in education as a teacher, principal and staff developer. Writing has always been integral to her world and her real passion is writing mystery/suspense adventures for young adult audiences. She has seven published novels and has written non-fiction for Madavor Media/Jones Publishing. Time travel, the vehicle she embraces, is her hook into historical fiction
