Writing a memoir doesn’t have to be scary. Here you’ll learn how to write the story of your life and have fun doing it. Bring pen and paper, because you’ll be writing. A seven-page guide with questions will help you gather your thoughts and organize your life history and memorable stories. You will be well on your way to finishing your memoir when you complete this class.
Instructor Betty Webb is the author of the nationally best-selling Lena Jones mystery series (Desert Wives, Desert Noir, Desert Wind, Desert Rage, etc.) and the humorous Gunn Zoo mysteries (The Puffin of Death, The Llama of Death, etc.). Before beginning to write full time, Betty worked as a journalist, interviewing everyone from U.S. presidents, astronauts who walked on the moon, Nobel Prize-winners, and polygamy runaways. She and has been a nationally-syndicated literary critic for more than 20 years. For the past 10 years, she has been a columnist and reviewer for Mystery Scene Magazine. A partial list of the creative writing classes Betty has taught include: Master Classes at ASU’s Virginia Piper School of Creative Writing; Phoenix College; Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI); writing classes for the Maricopa County Library Association for one summer (2013); writing classes for Arizona State Library for two summers throughout the state. Among the classes and workshops Betty teaches are: “Writing the Contemporary Novel,” “Writing the Mystery Novel and Thriller,” “Get Five Story Ideas a Day, Every Day,” and “Writing the Memoir/Family History.”
