Keep busy with free EXPLORE! classes this summer


Looking for a way to wipe out the summer doldrums, while having fun and learning something new?


Be kind to yourself and your wallet this summer – sign up today for numerous free classes offered by the Recreation Centers of Sun City West’s EXPLORE! Adult Education Program. Classes are held from 3 to 5 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at various Rec Centers’ facilities.


The classes cover diverse and important subjects, including finance, health, nature and personal development:         

  • Caring for cats and dogs – our extended family – in crisis situations
  • Choosing the phone, tablet or computer that is best for you
  • Evolution of life insurance for retirees
  • Learn from financial blunders
  • How desert critters cope in the summer heat, and exploring Maricopa County parks
  • Important personal legal matters
  • Keeping your balance and preventing falls
  • Learning to play chess, yes!
  • Learning self-hypnosis
  • Personal safety at home and in the community
  • Pre-diabetes, understanding what it means
  • Social Security and Medicare planning, maximizing your benefits
  • Trending scams and frauds
  • Understanding dementia
  • Understanding reverse mortgages
  • Water resources and conservation 101
  • What to do with all my stuff

In addition to the free classes, EXPLORE! ongoing fitness classes will be offered this summer. These include Barre, B-Fit cardio, Line Dancing, Rock and Roll Dance Exercise and Zumba.
