Sizzling Summer Fun!

Beat the heat and join us for 4 great shows at the Lecture Hall in July! They are only $5 each and tickets go on sale May 29 at the R.H. Johnson Box Office, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd. Both present concerts at 1 and 3 p.m., with doors opening at 12:30 and 2:30. Tickets will be sold at the door only if there are any remaining. The Lecture Hall holds 90 people, so these will be fun, intimate shows.

Thursday, July 19, T.A. Burrows uses his remarkable vocal talents to create a delightful trip down memory lane, featuring such standards as Misty, That’s Life, Mr. Bojangles, Georgia, That’s Amore and more.  Between songs, T.A. keeps audiences amused with interesting biographical facts about the vocal legends who first performed America’s best-loved songs.

A New York native, T.A. has over 40 years of experience and has performed over 2,500  shows throughout the U.S. and Europe.  He has opened for such starts as The Temptations, Patti Labelle, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, the Pointer Sisters, and Bob Hope. His theatre credits include performances in Damn Yankees, The Pajama Game, Guys & Dolls, and Simply Sammy, a tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience this multi-award winning vocalist, comedian and actor – right here in Sun City West.  Legends of Song is more than just another one-man show, it’s the concert of a lifetime!

On August 9, join us for The Kehlers. The Kehler’s singing and playing style will make your toes tap and your ears smile!  For 43 years, Steve and Darlene have been entertaining audiences with a large repertoire of country, folk, bluegrass and gospel favorites.

Steve boasts a unique folksy voice and is a natural on the harmonica, acoustic guitar and mandolin.  Darlene accompanies him on bass guitar (she is the only performing female bass player in Sun City West)! The Kehlers are pleased to be joined by guest performer, Frank Menolascino, on electric guitar.  Frank, facility lead at Kuentz Recreation Center, plays a mean guitar that should not be missed.

Who doesn’t like the sound of great brass quintet?  Join your friends and neighbors on August 23 to hear a variety of musical selections performed by The West Valley Brass Works – a group of local musicians who also perform with the well-known West Valley Winds Ensemble. The quintet is comprised of two trumpets, a French horn, a trombone and tuba. The Brass Works repertoire represents a myriad of musical genres including Traditional Jazz/Dixieland, Baroque, Big Band, Movie Themes, Religious, Patriotic and more. Listening to the cool sounds of Brass Works is a great way to spend a hot August Sun City West afternoon – see  you there!

Mark your calendars for Sept. 13 now to “beat the heat” and enjoy the cool sounds of the Cantabile String Quartet. The quartet features the principal players from the Sun Cities Orchestra and includes two violins, a viola and cello.
