Sun City West – 40 years and running!

In February 2018, Sun City West will mark its 40th anniversary! As part of our week-long celebration, we are planning a 40th Anniversary 5K walk/run beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018.

A link to registration can be found online at The 40th anniversary 5K is open to residents of all communities and will be a rain-or-shine event. Cost is $30 for adults 18 and over until the end of January; late registration – Feb. 1 and after – is $35. Day of the event registration is $40.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association. Millions of Americans live with heart disease, stroke or a cardiovascular condition. Proceeds of this 5K will go toward saving and improving their lives with research, education and emergency care.

A celebration of the victories and participation will take place immediately following the race with an awards ceremony. All registered participants, 18-and-older, will receive a free race T-shirt, race bib, timing chip and post-race snacks.

Children 17 and younger are free in the 5K with a paying adult, but they will not receive a T-shirt or timing chip. Parents must sign a waiver for participating children.

This will be an exciting day with a festival-like atmosphere. Runners and walkers will begin and end on the front 9 at Stardust Golf Course, 12702 W. Stardust Blvd., Sun City West. Participants will enjoy the beautiful golf course route.

Following is the race schedule:
