The following presentations were part of the two Tennis Forums held May 11 and April 18 in the R.H. Johnson Social Hall. We are providing them here for anyone who was not able to attend and for those who wish to review the documents again. Thank you to all who attended the forums.

Second Forum:

Tennis Court Project_May 11

First Forum:

Current Court Condition – Larry Griffith, Facilities Projects Superintendent

Tennis Statistics – Cindy Knowlton, Recreation Activities Manager

Facility Proposal – Jay Hicks, DIG Studio

Financial Implications – Tony Struck, CFO

  1. Tennis is a big part of Sun City West. In fact, it is the reason we moved here 13 years ago. Even though we no longer play tennis, it is important to maintain the “active senior community” image by having decent tennis courts.

  2. Anita Henke says:

Used to play tennis but don’t play tennis anymore. The various times I’ve been around the tennis courts I often wonder where are the tennis players??

  3. It sounded to me from comments at the meeting, that the Tennis Club should be participating in the fundraising for a portion of this project like other clubs have done. Is the Tennis Club doing any fundraising?

Question? What is the plan for the other tennis courts by the softball fields? Does a resident have to belong to the Tennis Club in order to use the Tennis Courts?

    Thanks

Hello Tim, the Kuentz tennis courts are staying as-is, they were just updated/refreshed in the 2015/16 fiscal year. Residents need only to have a current rec card or tenant activity card to use the courts, you do not have to be a club member. The monitor at the RHJ tennis tower has scheduling/reservation information for both facilities. Stop by or give them a call at 623-544-6151 to find out about available court time. And yes, as stated above, many attendees at the tennis forum this week expressed that they Tennis Club should pay for the social area, so we are looking into that option. Thanks for writing.

  5. I would like to know the dates the pictures of the tennis courts were taken? I have been by the courts and did not see the same amount of damage seen in the pictures.

Hello Cathie, the first two photos in Larry Griffith’s presentation showing the crack repair to Court #7 were taken in June of 2016. All of the other photos showing cracks were taken during late March and early April of this year.
